Queen Mother Amelia Boynton-Robinson's 109th Birthday Celebration
On Sunday, August 17th, 2014, a small group of friends, family and followers of Dr. Amelia Platts Boynton-Robinson gathered to give tribute to a beloved legend. The group gathered at her home on Amelia Boynton-Robinson Parkway, in Tuskegee Institute, Alabama.
Leon "Chief" Frazier filmed the affair for Dr. Robinson, who was, at that time recuperating in a Montgomery, AL hospital. The well wishers performed and gave oral tributes to Queen Mother Robinson for her 109th birthday, taking place the following day, Monday, August 18th, 2014. On her actual birthday, that Monday, friends and family gathered in her hospital room and gave expressions of love, along with allowing her to view the film from the previous day. News reporters also came and many phone calls came from near and far to help her celebrate. One of the many expressions of love presented to Queen Mother Robinson was a painting of her first husband, S.W. Boynton, created by renowned artist Dr. Ronald McDowell. Dr. Robinson always credits Mr. S.W. Boynton with "teaching her and making her who she is today". |
