SCABC secures private funding for broadband project

On May 2, 2013, officials of the United States Department of Agriculture, Alabama state agencies and community based organizations announced the launching of the Strikeforce for Rural Growth and Opportunity in Alabama. The announcement took place at Hooks Farms in Shorter, Alabama.

CSX Rail
The CSX Select Site program was started in 2012 to work with economic developers in generating a list of properties with the potential for development that have direct rail service by CSX. The Macon County Select Site is only one of eight sites nationwide.
New Industry for Shorter, AL
A new manufacturing facility planned for Shorter will create 70 new jobs, according to a report from the Alabama Department of Commerce. South Korean company Taesung will invest $6.6 million to build a new manufacturing facility in Macon County, its first plant in the U.S. The company currently has facilities in South Korea, Poland, Russia and Mexico.
